Electrical Engineer – Planning & Design (Airports)

The Company
Our client is a leading engineering consultancy involved in complex infrastructure projects across Germany, with a strong focus on aviation. Based in Leipzig, their team is delivering cutting-edge electrical and systems planning for regional and international airports. As part of their expansion, they are seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience or interest in airport infrastructure to join their planning and design team.
The Role
This is a specialist role focused on the planning and design of electrical systems for airport facilities including terminals, runways, baggage handling systems, airfield lighting, and security infrastructure. You will collaborate with architects, aviation consultants, and public authorities to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant electrical solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
Design and layout of electrical systems specific to airport environments (e.g. terminal power supply, airfield ground lighting, control systems, fire safety systems)
Coordination with stakeholders such as airport operators, contractors, and regulatory authorities
Preparation of technical drawings, calculations, and system documentation
Ensuring all designs meet aviation safety standards (e.g. ICAO, EASA, DIN VDE)
Technical support throughout design phases and during implementation oversight
The Candidate
Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or similar
2–3 years of relevant planning/design experience, ideally in infrastructure or building services
Previous involvement in airport or transport-related projects is highly desirable
Strong proficiency with design tools (e.g. AutoCAD, EPLAN, Revit MEP a plus)
Thorough understanding of German regulations and international aviation standards
Fluent German (C1 or above) is essential
